This is supposed to be a "Cowhorn" chile which is supposed to be as close as I can find here to the NM chile. The chile doesn't exactly look like the picutre though, they kind of look shrivled up. The first big ones look that way but I think the smaller ones coming in now look a little more normal. Who knows. LOL
This is the watermelon plant that Cheyanne picked out.
Pumpkin which Damian picked out.
The two rows between the black hoses have my zucchini and my cabbage.
Here's a little zucchini flower now, isn't it pretty?
And another one not yet bloomed.
Here's our bannana pepper plant.
Here are some tomato plants, you can't see the others because the front one is a huge monster. LOL. You can't see it very well but we have a good number of tomatos hanging off of the plant. Yum!
Here we have broccoli and leeks on the left, corn and one tomato plant in the center and tomato plants to the right. I really don't have any weeds but I do have a darn good amount of grass that is coming in and it's a very fast growing grass too. I keep trying to pull it out but the leaves just break and then the next morning they pop up an inch or so tall. If only the grass would grow this way in the yard. I don't know if you can see it or not but there is a trail of dirt pushed up, I believe that a mole or something of the sort paid my garden a visit last night. They need to understand that I don't like to have visitors like that.
To the left of my broccoli we have my green beans.
Okay so the angle on this picture is not the best. This my friend is a weeping willow. We bought this dear tree from the clearance cart, you know where they put all the plants that they think won't have a chance but if you're dumb enough to buy them hey they still made a profit. LOL. Well when we got it it was half the size and had not leaves on the branches, which also looked kind of dead. But we loved it and took care of it and now it has grown and even though you can't really see them it has a pretty good amount of leaves.
This little guy is called a "Butterfly Tree" and we got this one and it's brother from the clearance cart also. At the time we had no idea why it had this name because they were in pretty bad shap too, but we figured they were very cheap so what the heck. As you can see by this one they have gotten nice and green and about a month ago had a good amount of blossoms, which look like......butterflies.
I have some sunflowers growing in those blocks.
In the middle there are some carnations.
We have this plant that has some really pretty purple flowers, as you can see those are not purple flowers...LOL. There is a brand new plant growing right beside it that is the same type of plant but with those pinkish red flowers. Now in the time I've been here I've only seen this particular plant with purple flowers, so it's kind of cool.
This is supposed to be mint. (from seed)
This is another bed of parsley.

Roses in my front yard. I have 5 rose bushes, 3 of them were put in just after Febuary of this year. Ignore the weeds on the other side of the fence. LOL

You took some really neat pictures! I love how the garden looks!
Wow! It's looking great. Much better than my garden. Of course, your weather has been much nicer, but I've developed garden depression because of the late, late spring and haven't been terribly motivated to get out there and do what I need to do.
Butterfly bush (buddleia) attracts butterflies with their beautiful purple blossoms. It's one of my favorites. Our neighbor has one right on our property line. It's in the shade, though, so hasn't produced many blooms the past couple of summers.
You can order NM chile pepper seeds online. They are called Big Jim. I actually found mine on Ebay, this is the first year I will be growing that variety.
Just a word of advice, corn should be planted in rows of at least four wide, because it needs to pollinate itself that way. They don't have to be long rows, but there should be at least four. The only year I grew corn it didn't turn out so hot, so I decided not to plant again because it requires so much space.
What happened with your garden last year? Why did it fail?
Thanks, Mom. I still like taking pictures.
Thanks, Lisa. I didn't know that about the corn. I saw someone growing it down here this way so I figured I would try. I wasn't really expecting the corn to grow because it didn't last year. The garden last year was doing fine and then all of a sudden the bugs came out in full force. I wouldn't use pesticides so they ate everything. It was pretty weird actually.
That's too bad. That is strange. Hopefully you'll have better luck this year. Adding blooming flowers should attract the good bugs that eat the bad ones. Butterfly bush will obviously attract butterflies, which don't eat insects, but it will also attract bugs that will eat other bugs! Also, not using pesticides will keep the good bugs around. It might take longer, but you will start to see a balanced bug population! Spiders are good for eating the bad ones too.
Laura,
You have a great garden! And, great pictures, too. You and Lisa both seem to have very green thumbs! It's been so cold here and no moisture (at least at our house) that things are just starting to get green. We got a butterfly bush last year from our soil conservation group for $5. I didn't know what it was then, but it turned out to be purple and grew rapidly. It hasn't started getting green yet this year, but I'm hopeful, because the butterflies do love it! Aunt K
Thanks, Aunt K. I know we got our butterfly bush when it was very tiny and it was about $3.97 I believe. But it is pretty darn big now, I should take a picture of it futher back so you guys can see how big it is. I love it and think it's beautiful.
